DAY 6 - Chasing Waterfalls in the Hood

Still ahead of our planned schedule, we set off on a full day of driving as we made our way to Oregon and the Columbia River Valley. Three short Tesla Supercharger stops were necessary to cover our 505 mile trek with the first one perfectly timed for lunch at the Wildhorse Resort & Casino.

Moving on from the casino we made our way into the Columbia River Valley and headed west until we were stunned by the sight of a solitary mountain peak rising into the clouds on the far horizon. We reached our destination of Hood River, OR quite earlier than expected so we decided to take a scenic drive around Mt. Hood.

Our loop around Mt. Hood took us to the Multnomah Falls area where we decided to give our hiking shoes a workout. We parked at the base of Wahkeena Falls and followed a .5 mile trail to Multnomah. The hike to the top of Mulnomah Falls was about 1 mile with 11 switchbacks. Ryan barely made it and decided that the easiest way back to the car was clearly the high trail over to the top of Wahkeena Falls where we parked. Laura wasn't convinced and won bragging rights and a foot rub by guessing the closest to the overall distance of 4.5 miles that we ended up hiking (all uphill I think) thanks to Ryan's brilliance.

While Ryan had to periodically rest and complain, Laura happened to get some great pictures of the dozens of waterfalls we came upon.

With his legs shaking and his shirt soaked, Ryan drove us back to our beautiful riverfront hotel for a quick shower and sunset view with a dinner of salmon from the river below. After dinner we had a quick nightcap flight at the Full Sail brewery.

Our accommodations for the night were at Columbia Cliff Villas where a Tesla Destination Charger was waiting for us. The room was small but pristine and modern.
