Checking off our first National Park at Yellowstone and the first time we get to use our $80 annual park pass! We have a full day of touring planned with many different destinations in the park.

It is strange to think of Yellowstone as a giant active volcano until you see the sheer volume of active geysers throughout the park. You can barely turn your head without seeing steam jets and gagging on sulfur fumes!

The Mammoth Hot Springs terrace features are incredible deposits of minerals that have built up over time to form amazing landscapes. This is a must see in the park and we recommend driving the upper terrace loop.

You get a bit of everything in Yellowstone including amazing valleys with roaming wildlife. But don't get too close to the bison because they can be very aggressive when they feel threatened. This is not a zoo!

But if you find the opportunity to sneak up on one and snap a selfie you should definitely do it (just kidding we are safely on a boardwalk with a protective railing).

For visitor safety the park consistently reminds you to stay on the trails, boardwalks, and designated paths so you don't get boiled by a thermal feature or eaten alive by bears.

Sometimes the park is protecting you from capturing amazing photos that less than .00001% of the population will ever get to see in their lifetime like this awesome shot from the base of Tower Fall... maybe or maybe not taken by us ;)

We marveled at how water has shaped the park landscape. Yellowstone Lake pours into Yellowstone River which has carved out an amazing canyon as Yellowstone Falls moves closer to the lake with great patience. Definitely check out the overlook and scenic drive along the canyon in Canyon Village.

And of course, no trip to Yellowstone would be complete without witnessing Old Faithful's water fireworks. She arrived perfectly on time and lasted for roughly 4 minutes!

We made Gray Wolf Inn & Suites our home for both Day 2 & 3 and were very pleased with our accommodations. Not only did they have a Tesla Destination Charger in the garage beneath the hotel, there was a bank of 8 Tesla Superchargers right across the street! Only two minutes from the park entrance it was a perfect hotel destination for Yellowstone National Park!
